PRECAUTION IN SUMMER



Care in Summer


With the mercury rising, doctors had a word of caution for people to prevent health ailments related to summer.
Sunburns, heatstrokes and diarrhoea are common summer problems.Health experts say these ailments could be
avoided if one takes care of food habits and other precautionary measures.
Direct exposure to sun rays causes redness of the skin with irritations. To protect oneself from the harmful
UV rays, one should cover the skin with cotton cloth and use sunscreen lotions.
Normally the body losses salts due to sweating leading to electrolyte imbalance.Sodium plays a key role in
various functions of the body at cellular level and its deficiency can lead to weakness, irritability, body ache
and other problems. For this, one should consume more liquids to maintain the electrolytic balance of the
body.Stale foods, spicy foods are to be avoided. One must use sunglasses to avoid burning sensation of the eyes while going outside.If possible , try to stay indoors in the afternoon or at least cover your your head with
hats while going outside.

Remedies


1. Apply aloe vera gel on skin which acts as a natural sunscreen and reduces burning sensation.
2. Apply sandalwood paste on face and body which is having good cooling properties.
3.Apply onion juice on sunburn affected area of skin which keeps body cool.
4.While bathing, add few drops of peppermint oil or neem leaves in water to reduce body odour
    and refreshing bath.
5. Cucumber juice is applied on skin to reduce inflammation of the skin.
6.Eat fresh fruits like watermelon, oranges, cucumber, sweet limes, etc.
7. Drink buttermilk, lemon juice or lemon sharbat.
8. Eat onion in salads or take onion juice.
9. Bael (Aegle marmelos) sharbat is very useful in summer season.
10. Gulkand made from desi roses is very effective in preventing heat of the body.
11. Avoid cold drinks but coconut water is the best option.
